A beacon project for Nepal: In the future, the Mustang Trails, the most spectacular mountain bike route in the world, will run along these paths ©Chris Miklautsch/Trail Angels
It is the flagship project for the big #visitnepal2020 campaign and is intended to create one of the most spectacular mountain bike trails on earth: from the Tibetan highlands of Mustang down through the deepest gorge in the world, the Kali Gandaki Gorge. A dream route through all imaginable climate zones: from the windswept Himalayan passes to the evergreen subtropical jungle. Have fun with the live photos from our mountain bike expert Chris Miklautsch from the Himalayas. And if you are not necessarily a mountain biker, you should not forget: You can also hike through this magnificent landscape with Bookyourtrail.com!

Hiker’s paradise: Regardless of the mountain biker’s plans: The Kali Gandaki Gorge with its dense forests and thundering waterfalls is a dreamland for Trekker ® Trail Angels/C. Miklautsch

A cool bath: The water buffalo live up to their name and refresh themselves in a pond. Because it’s still monsoon and when the sun shines, it gets really hot in the Kali Gandaki Gorge. ® Trail Angels/C. Miklautsch

Unconscious Globalization: A beautiful gated path near Tatopani. Such paths are often found very often in the Alps. Here you can go hiking and mountain biking! ® Trail Angels/C. Miklautsch

A whole network of ancient trade routes runs through the Kali Gandaki Gorge as it was a trade route between India and Tibet for centuries. Today it is important to put these paths back into use for sustainable tourism. As hiking trails or as mountain bike trails ® Trail Angels/C. Miklautsch

What a project: The Mustang Trails will in future connect the hidden kingdom of Mustang on the border with Tibet with the subtropical lowlands. In the picture: Our team exploring at about 2,500m above sea level, the zone with shady coniferous forests.® Trail Angels/C. Miklautsch

Natural paradise: The Kali Gandaki Gorge is a true natural paradise and is located in the largest protected area in Nepal, the Annapurna Conservation Area. The variety of landscapes is unique in this region: you start – whether by bike or on foot in the Tibetan highlands and walk through all climatic zones up to the subtropical jungle. Trail Angels/C.
