A trend – nomen est omen – which we Trail Angels, who operate the platform www.bookyourtrail.com, were of course happy to adopt. With two particularly fascinating routes and our own new way of approaching trails: by combining your longing for something special and individual freedom with service, comfort and safety!
What is a long-distance hiking trail?
First of all, what distinguishes a long-distance hiking trail from a multi-day hike or other hiking trails. By long-distance hiking trails, we mean trails that require at least a total walking time of 3 weeks. In addition, several cultural areas should be walked through. Long-distance hiking trails live from the change of changing landscapes, the different cultural influences and the resulting variety of impressions.
Make it your project!
Now you’re going to wonder how you get so much vacation time to hike at least 3 weeks or more continuously. Well, this is not necessary at all. Most of our guests make their personal project out of their long-distance hiking trail. This means that they spread it over several holidays and then gradually hiked one section after the other. How do we know? Quite simply because 75% of our guests book with us again and again and hike their trail or their personal project in sections.

The Alpe Adria Trail is our classic
Now we would like to introduce you to a long-distance hiking trail that can already be booked online. This is the internationally well-known Alpe Adria Trail. In addition, we would like to introduce you to a long-distance hiking trail that we are currently planning and will be one of our bookable long-distance hiking trails from autumn – the Bernsteintrail.
The Alpe Adria Trail is not only our first trail that we managed, but also the first long-distance hiking trail in the world that can be booked online. As the most renowned travel magazine in the world, National Geographic Traveler describes the Alpe Adria Trail with attributes such as: “through unforgettable landscapes”, “authentic regional cuisine”, “rich cultural landscape in three different countries” and “inspiring encounters”. The ode ends with the words: “This is the Alpe-Adria-Trail. What a journey!”

It is therefore not surprising that this long-distance hiking trail has received a number of awards in recent years: Tour Natur “Best hiking trail in Austria 2018”; National Geographic USA “Best Hidden Gem 2018”; National Geographic Germany “Top 7 Trails Worldwide”; National Geographic Traveler “Top Ten – Best New Trails 2014 & 2016, and many more! The Alpe-Adria-Trail is a classic example of a long-distance hiking trail. The title alone reveals the length of the trail – from the glacier to the sea. The trail connects the three countries of Austria, Italy and Slovenia over a total of 43 stages and around 750 km. The long-distance hiking trail starts at the foot of the ice-crowned immensity of the Großglockner, through the most beautiful Carinthian mountain and lake areas and through the wine and karst-regions of Italy and Slovenia to the tranquil fishing port of Muggia on the Adriatic coast. So it’s no wonder that we welcome guests from 29 nations and all 6 continents on our most famous long-distance hiking trail. We are amazed and at the same time proud that guests from Australia and New Zealand, for example, make the long journey to spend their holidays on the Alpe-Adria-Trail. Our information and booking center also plays an important role here, and its team always strives to fulfill all of our guests’ wishes. The online bookability, the luggage service, the passenger shuttle, the hotline, the GPS app and much more are important pillars of the Alpe-Adria success story. Bernstein Trail – a view
With the Bernstein Trail, we are currently developing another long-distance hiking trail. The slogan “Pleasure hiking between the Alps and Puszta” is the program and its name refers to an ancient trade route. In ancient times, the Romans were looking for the safest possible route for one of their greatest treasures at the time, the legendary amber. In doing so, they avoided both the unprotected expanses of Pannonia and the impassable Alps and found them along a corridor between these world landscapes. Exactly where Burgenland stretches today.
The new Bernstein Trail: Pleasure hiking between the Alps and the Puszta. After a day of hiking, a well-deserved glass of wine in one of the cellar lanes.
Isn’t it a fascinating idea to lace up your hiking boots and follow the mythical Roman Bernstein road through the whole of Burgenland, starting from the Roman legionary camp of Carnunthum in the north to the Slovenian border in the south? And let yourself be enchanted by the new treasures of Burgenland on old tracks? Because there are many: The Neusiedler See National Park, countless cultural monuments, relaxing thermal baths and cozy taverns in the idyllic vineyards. This is the new Bernstein Trail! The Bernstein Trail is aimed at pleasure-oriented hikers who face the hustle and bustle of everyday life with the conscious courage to slow down. Not records or best performances, but insights into the diversity of nature and culture in Burgenland, staying in enchanting places, be it the relaxing thermal baths or a rustic wine cellar and the typical Burgenland cuisine motivate this fascinating hiking trip off the beaten track. Ideally in spring or autumn, when the mild, Pannonian-influenced climate of Burgenland already or still provides the best hiking conditions.
A long-distance hiking trail like the Bernstein Trail can also do this: insert exciting days off! Birdwatching at the Neusiedler See – Seewinkel National Park
We will inform you as soon as this long-distance hiking trail is activated with us. On our website “Bookable soon” at https://blog.bookyourtrail.com/trail-reisen/coming-soon< /a> you can get a first impression of the Bernstein Trail.
There’s more to come!
In any case, we can promise you that more long-distance hiking trails will follow on our web platform bookyourtrail.com. To make it easier for you to choose your own personal holiday project! Because (derived from a well-known do-it-yourself advertisement): don’t say project if you don’t mean your own long-distance hiking trail!
